St. Louis Genesis

This is an illuminated page from the St. Louis Bible, commissioned by Blanche of Castile for her son, King (and future saint) Louis IX. This page shows the Pantocrator, God the Son, creating the universe. Along the top reads "In principio creavit Deus caelum et terram" — "In the beginning, God created heaven and earth" — the opening sentence of St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate Bible. This shirt comes with the added benefit of taking back the rainbow.
